    @TMP3z

Unfortunately alternate fuels is the only way we’re gonna have a decent future

  2. tripjet999 Says:

GM and Standard Oil bought up and killed the electric street cars in the early 1900’s. They are criminal organizations.

  3. T10TheGreat Says:

Where are is the electric car when we need it NOW!!!!!! Let me guess……GONE FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!

  4. glowellxinfinity Says:

That might be trew about electric cars not performing well in cold weather, but their are a lot of places in the us and the world that don’t have cold weather.

The EV1 was a test, and it failed it. Terrible performance compared to regular or hybrid engine, long recharge time and the necessity of having a docking station to recharge it. Combined to the fact that they were much more expensive to make and maintain when gas price were not that high.

Its only the gas price quadrupling in the last few years that made hybrid and electric car more viable.

  6. loonmaniac Says:

About ten years ago, right, some bloke tried ter register an electric car. The states motor vehicle bureau refused ter register it because it could not pass a required emissions test, right, because there were no emissions ter test.

hopefully GM will disapear and become a weak memory in history for their actions. nissan and toyota deserve to prosper…

@ FuckViacom4thJuly: LOVE YOU for that post!! 20 thumbs up!

  9. TMP3z Says:

There’s no conspiracy, electric cars can’t compete with gas period. Why did they disappear? I’m sure it had nothing to do with the 20-30 mile range or charging it for 16 hours. Highways? Drive faster and your range goes down exponentially. What fantasy world you guys live in?

I don’t see it replacing fossil fuel in the united states any time soon. Imagine how many billions it would take to place charge stations 100 miles apart across the entire country. Even now it’s only viable within cities.

@mindysch Don’t know where you live buddy, but this winter was extreme here in Europe and it proved my point in practice: many hybrid cars got stranded here with dead batteries or batteries not charging anymore. Heck, many hybrids didn’t even start up. That’s no mis-information: it’s a fact buddy…

  11. mindysch Says:

@f0xmuld3r - not so! This is more mis-information…do you really think that EVs battery systems aren’t tested for extremes. As far as getting stranded ( natural selection maybe ? ) If you can’t remember to fill up your gas tank - you will be stranded too. ( And who has spare fuel lying around at home…where as with an EV I can just plug it in and “fill it up”. ) Nissan leaf 100 miles for $3 - charging dock in your garage - just like the EV1

oh, i run a lawnmower with a pantone system : I Just use 25 % of gazolin, since 3 years, every years, to cut down my grass and it run perfect. The other ” fuel” is just WATER..

A lot of alternative systems have been killed, because they give economical problems : HOW to taxe water or electricity the same that Oil or gazolin is taxed ?
Btw, look also at the stiling engine, or Tesla way to produce free energy motors.
What have change is that we now have the infos with internet. That’s all.

  13. ThePingasMightier Says:

    Bio-diesel.

  14. mycatisromeo Says:

Nissan Leaf is coming soon! Eat that Oil companies!!! And for all you shareholders in oil stocks - FUCK YOU, we, the people want electric cars and will lead the revolution!

  15. mycatisromeo Says:

Remember, oil companies, like any Corporation, have a duty to make as much profit for their shareholders (the Elite and wealthy) as possible. If you want to blame somebody, blame every asshole who wants a return on investment in conjunction to destroying the environment and keeping people slaves to oil. The Elite, the rich, who don’t give a shit about the future. They only care about their profit today. They don’t give a shit about society.

  16. mycatisromeo Says:

see this movie that came out in the 80’s directed by John Carpenter called “They Live”. It’s GREAT!!!

  17. pouceeter Says:

    fcuk them
don’t eat what they give, don’t buy what they sell

and learn others to do the same

  18. zmansporscheboxster Says:

The EV1 was available since 1996. Imagine all the advancement that could have been accomplished since then.

  19. vikramvaranasi Says:

What George Carlin said is 100% true.
They own us, they tell us what to buy, what to eat, what to drive, how to live… they control our lives!

  20. vikramvaranasi Says:

not every power plant runs on coal.

  21. PersonOfBook Says:

Well the car could also generate its own electricity through a built in dynamo, isn’t it? I mean when the car is travelling, it could be producing its own electric energy by converting the mechanical rotation of wheels to electricity! But I doubt that would create enough electricity!

  22. PersonOfBook Says:

The story is quite believable. Oil companies are rich and therefore have a lot of influence. I was always suspected that conspiracy because technologically speaking, Electric car shouldn’t be so complicated to make!

  23. 109740ewh Says:

Stupid fucking oil companies, we’re gonna need plenty of electric cars before long… They say oil is gonna run out around 2050… We’re gonna need alternative cars…

  24. WildlifeDen Says:

coal and oil aren’t the only things that will produce electricity. there’s Wind, solar, hydro, and several others

  25. dustysheeks Says:

    Thanks for the tip.
