their not automaticsd
there are 2 padels on teh left adn 2 on the right
on the right theres the upshift and a clutch
and on teh left theres a down shift adn a clutch
so when your shift down you clutch with the right shift with the left
and when going up clutch with the left adn shift with the right
theres just no foot clutch, but its still there
and you need both clutch paddles to got off the line adn the beginning of the race

7-gear semi auto sequential with shifting paddles, the only way to shift so rapidly without going full automatic (eg 4 gears upwards in as little as 3 seconds, and even faster downwards when braking. Try doing that with a stick shift without slamming it everywhere and breaking the synchromesh)

They have quick shift gear boxes. There are two clutches. The driver simply has to press a paddle on the back of the wheel to shift one gear up or down. When standing and you want to start driving you have to use the clutch which is another pedal below the 2 shifting paddles. When the car is driving you don’t need the clutch as such any more.

Despite such high levels of technology, fully automatic transmission systems, and gearbox-related wizardry such as launch control, are illegal - a measure designed to keep costs down and place more emphasis on driver skill.
Transmissions bolt directly to the back of the engine and incorporate a torque-biasing differential that works in conjunction with the electronic traction control systems to ensure the maximum amount of power is applied to the road.

The gearboxes of modern Formula One cars are now highly automated with drivers selecting gears via paddles fitted behind the steering wheel. The ’sequential’ gearboxes used are very similar in principle to those of motorbikes, allowing gear changes to be made far faster than with the traditional H gate selector, with the gearbox selectors operated electrically.

sequential manual gearbox with paddle shifters, that means its a manual without clutch and changes behind the steeringwheel
May 23rd, 2009 at 2:45 pm
so the clutch is auto.
May 23rd, 2009 at 2:45 pm
7 gear manual transmission. There are paddles behind the steering wheel that let the driver change gears.
