Why does this guy keep talking about “moving the driver”. The driver isn’t going to go anywhere if the car doesn’t move - unless he gets out and walks.

So if hybrid or electric vehicles are the future, why have European and Japanese automakers not lead the way? These nations have more expensive petrol prices; “greener” people/politics and better market demographics. Don’t preach EV vehicles. They’re a joke. America’s job is not necessarily to lead the world in automotive innovation. Even if it was, it wouldn’t be in something as ENVIABLE as EV.

    1. Car companies did think of some of these concepts. However they were never implemented for several reasons mostly related to the profitability of making gas guzzlers. Check out the documentary “who killed the electric car”
    2. The method they use to produce a Carbon Fiber car frame is actually cheaper to then to produce it out of metal. It does however require an upfront investment in new equipment.
    3. Carbon fiber is mindblowing light compared to metal, and it is 10 times stronger than steel

This guy is a total fraud. Believe me the car companies have thought about all of these things. They are super expensive! If these things were do easy people would have already thought of them. The weights of our current cars are much lighter than they used to be. Everyone knows this. Don’t pay any attention to Lovins.

While the technology is very cool, it only addresses better fuel economy and improved emissions. It does not address the fact regardless of how a privately-owned car is powered major cities will remain clogged with them, demanding parking spots and continued road building and widening.
