How does one rid their car of smoking odor?

Used Car Financing from up2drive.com.

I was working abroad for a year and I rented my car to a friend.
When I returned the car was in perfect order except she smokes a lot. I can't seem to get the smell out of the car. It has cloth upolstery. I have tried spray products which only provide a temporary solution. The smell always comes back.
Is there something I can do?

Use liberal amounts of fabreze and let it soak right in! Keep applying until it finally goes away!

I'd rent a Rug Doctor upholstery kit & shampoo it. You could also pay to have it detailed.

    Have you tried Febreeze?

Get some Bounty Sheet(the ones you put in the dryer with your clothes) and put them under your seat….you will have to change the out for a while to keep a fresh smell in your car but the smoke will eventually go away
